The International Research Forum on Monetary Policy – Call for papers

The next conference of the International Research Forum on Monetary Policy (IRFMP) will take place at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, on 18-19 May 2026. This is the 14th edition of the biennial conference series organized by the Euro Area Business Cycle Network, the ECB, and the Federal Reserve Board.

Submissions

Submission deadline: 21 November 2025

Please submit complete manuscripts in PDF format via the submission form by 21 November 2025. In case of coauthored work, the submitting coauthor will be expected to present and all presenters will be expected to attend both days of the conference. Authors of accepted papers will be notified by 19 December.

The purpose of the IRFMP is to promote the discussion of innovative research on theoretical and empirical macroeconomic issues with relevance for monetary policy. Specific areas of interest at this juncture include, but are not limited to:

  • Inflation forecasting and control
  • The labor market and monetary policy
  • The effects of monetary policy on the macroeconomy and on heterogenous households and firms
  • Optimal monetary policy response to demand and supply disturbances
  • International trade, capital flows, exchange rates and monetary policy
  • Long-run growth and interest rates, productivity, structural change and innovation
  • Financial stability and the interaction between finance and the real economy
  • Fiscal and monetary policy interactions
  • Expectations formation mechanisms and their impact on the macroeconomy
  • Effective central bank communication

Conference papers will be placed on a website; there will be no conference volume.

Attendance to the conference is by invitation only. Travel and accommodation expenses of academic participants will be reimbursed according to the ECB reimbursement policy. For questions about this call for papers, please email IRFMP_Conferences@ecb.europa.eu.
