How can the private sector support the G20 targets?

To enable further economic growth, support international trade and financial inclusion, in 2020, the G20 leaders approved a roadmap to make cross-border payments, faster, cheaper, more transparent, and inclusive, while maintaining their safety and security. During the first two years, the programme focused on establishing the foundational elements of the roadmap and has benefited from regular and extensive collaboration with a wide range of private and public sector stakeholders sharing insights and expertise. Attention now shifts to implementation of practical projects to enhance cross-border payments. Private sector involvement is crucial to achieve this customer promise and achieve the ambitious targets set by the G20 in 2021. How will the industry support the road towards the targets and what does the industry need from the public sector?

Speakers:

  • Ulrich Bindseil, ECB
  • Todd Fox, Visa
  • Isabelle Poussigues, Société Générale
  • Emanuela Saccarola, Citibank

Moderator: Victoria Cleland, Bank of England

Can securities market infrastructures march in step to ISO 20022?

We all know ISO 20022 is the messaging standard of choice for payment market infrastructures worldwide. Is it time for securities market infrastructures to agree on a common way forward for applying the new standard now too? The European Central Securities Depository Association (ECSDA) thinks so and has recently recommended that CSDs set a timeline for the transition to ISO 20022. In this session, we’ll unpack the business case for securities market infrastructures globally to make the switch, explore which business areas could transition first, understand the downstream impacts, and discuss the benefits and potential blockers along the way.

Speakers:

  • Chris Burke, Federal Reserve Financial Services
  • Alex Dockx, J.P. Morgan
  • Anna Kulik, ECSDA
  • Holger Neuhaus, ECB

Moderator: Karin Deridder, SWIFT
